Spangley's Simple Steps: {Tutorial Week} Minion Nail Art

Hi everyone! Hope your having a great Saturday night and all my fellow UK girls are enjoying the final of Britain's Got Talent! Who are you rooting for? ;-) Anyway, back tonight with another Tutorial and this time its Minion nails, which one of my followers requested.  I know there is loads of minion tutorials floating around, which is why I put a girlie spin on it with the yellow & blue glitter gradient nail.

Before you start, make sure you have everything you need;

Your favourite Base and Top Coat
Yellow for the base: Color Club - Unnamed Yellow
Blue: Color Club - Unnamed Blue
White: Barry M - White
Black: Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure - Onyx
Grey: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Wet Cement
Blue glitter if you you are doing a glitter nail like mine: W7 - Blue Dazzle

You will also need a few tools too;

Without further ado, below is the steps:

Start off by painting your nails with your base coat and letting it dry and then paint all your nails with your yellow polish, whilst that is drying, paint on a thin coat of your fast drying top coat and...

***WAIT FOR 10 - 15 MINUTES!!***

This is super important because by waiting for this amount of time, your polish will be dry enough to allow you to stick tape to without it lifting up.  If you are unsure about anything "Tape Mani" related, then check out my tutorial here.

Using your scissors, cut a piece of striping tape and place it horizontally on your nail, just at the half way point.

Using your blue polish, paint the bottom half of your nail with blue polish.  Try to put on one thick coat/a coat thicker than usual.

IMMEDIATELY pull the tape of with your tweezers and you will be left with a super clean & straight line.

Using your striping brush and your black polish, add a line of black near the top of the nail.  It doesnt matter if you get some on your skin, like I have, as thats what the clean up brush is for.

With your large dotting tool and your grey polish add 2 large grey dots on top of your black line.

Sticking with your large dotting tool, use your white polish to add 2 white dots to the inside of the grey ones you just made.

Now with your small dotting tool and your black polish, add 2 small dots to the insides of the 2 white dots you just made.

Still with your black polish, but with your detail brush, add a large sideways C shape just underneath your glasses for the mouth.  Finally, add your top coat and your done!
