MeeBox #RiRiMee May 2016 Review + Exciting News!

Every time one of these little boxes pop through my door, I get so excited!  For the last 10 months, this little company have gone from strength to strength in terms of the content and quality of the products that they release.  I have yet to be disappointed!

I am, of course, talking about MeeBox and this months theme was Rihanna!  When I first seen the theme I thought how on earth can Rihanna be a theme?!  But the girls at MeeBox were seriously on point - just take a look at the contents of this box and then try to tell me that you didnt think of Rihanna.  Perfectly chosen polishes, finishes and accessories.

Review: Simply Spoiled Beauty Nail Art Pens

Hi everyone.  I received some epic Nail Mail from Simply Spoiled Beauty recently in the form of this 12 piece double ended Nail Art Pen set.  Christmas had came early in my house when this popped through my letterbox.

Simply Spoiled Beauty is an online retailer of nail art supplies and other cosmetic products.  They have a large following on social media and frequently feature customers' pictures if you use their products.  This always makes me want to purchase something if a company does this, as I like my work & efforts to be recognised if I use a particular product.

As I mentioned, I recieved this nail art pen set, along with some glitter nail art pens and some other nail art accent bows and gems.  Be sure to look out for them in future nail art posts.

I'm Back & Happy Movember!

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well.  Winter is well and truly upon us now, and the cold, dark nights are setting in fast here, in the UK.

I've taken a break from doing my nails, as my life has got super super busy arranging for Christmas and several family birthdays that occur around this time of year.  I've really enjoyed taking a back seat and watching the beautiful creations others have come up with on my social media feeds, it's been refreshing.

I thought I better start back with something to honour Movember... Movember encourages men to grow a moustache for the 30 days of November, to support & raise awareness of mens health.  If you want more information, you can click here.  It really is a great, worldwide cause.

#SwatchySunday nails inc - Pavillion Road

Hi everyone! Sorry I have been AWOL this last week.  Since the redesign of my blog, I have been working very hard on thinking of new, exciting and different things that I do, to keep you guys entertained, engaged and spangled!  I have loads of exciting things planned - but as you can guess, sometimes ideas can take a while to process from mind to paper to what you're reading now.

One of the thing I have came up with, is that on a Sunday, I will pick (or my boyfriend will pick) a polish out of my collection, to swatch & review!  Maybe in about 10 years time, I should have a blog post & review for every polish I own haha!

We shall call it... #SwatchySunday and welcome to post number 1.  The colour I have chosen is nails inc - Pavillion Road.  Full review, including video tutorial for my autumn tree is after the jump.

Nautical Nail Art & The Launch Of The New Spangley Nails!

Welcome to the new & improved Spangley Nails! :)

I am very very very excited to welcome you, as I have some really exciting things planned to take Spangley Nails to the "next level," and where ever that is - I hope to see you there, friend!

Things will still be relatively the same - regular nail art, videos, tutorials and swatches BUT I hope to throw in some extras & have set things that I post on set days as well.  For example, if you have been here a while, you may remember I used to post my "Then & Now" manicures on a Wednesday - this will now be moved to a Thursday to tie in with the very popular hashtag #TBT which stands for Throw Back Thursday.

Onto today's nail art though, is this nautical themed manicure.  Video tutorial will be after the jump, as well as all details on polishes and methods used.

Colourful Flower Nail Art & Video Tutorial

I am not ready to let go of summer floral's yet.  I thought I'd make a bold statement with the following nail art to really emphasise this point.

I seen the following nails on Pinterest by @nails_by_cindy and knew I just had to recreate complete with a tutorial for you guys - I cant believe how easy and beautiful they are.

After I completed this manicure, I started thinking I could add nail caviar or glitter but I really think in this case that less is more and the bright colours do all the talking for themselves without added extras like caviar or glitter.

Glitter Striping Tape Manicure With Video Tutorial

I started today's Nail Art originally intending to redo a Blue Striping Nail Art Tutorial, as I didn't like the way that I filmed it (you can find the original blog post here.)  But I painted my nails with Too Cool To Tango then remembered that the base colour for the Blue Striping Tape Manicure was Go Into The Light - whoops!!  Couldn't let a fresh base colour go to waste so I came up with this nail art & filmed a video tutorial for you guys, too! :-)

I seen @SpilledMilkNails doing a dry brush manicure on Instagram earlier this week and I just fell in love with the colours she used.  It was gold and very rustic looking, so I decided to recreate it, with a video tutorial for you guys.

Colour Stripes With Black Frame Nail Art And Video Tutorial!

Another great response was received by Spangley Nails yesterday in response to my Pink Roses Nail Art!  Thank you to everyone who has liked, commented, shared and followed - it is all very much appreciated.  My Instagram account is now at over 4000 followers and my Facebook account has just under 500 likes.  I really cannot stress how much I appreciate every interation I get from you guys, whether its likes, follows, comments or shares - so thank you very much! :-)

As I mentioned yesterday, all my nail art designs will come with their accompanying video tutorial from now on and today's nail art is no different!! I seen such a lovely design on Pinterest and just knew I had to recreate it.  I cannot remember the nail artist though, so if you know who, please let me know and I'll credit appropriately.

I really love this design, I think its really versatile and could be worn with any shades of colour, for example, how great and effective would it look all different shades of blue or pink.

Pink Roses With Video Tutorial!

Yes, I am still here.  Yes, I am still alive.  Yes, I have Nail Art to share with you today!  I figured those would be the questions you were asking yourself whilst reading this post ;-)

I've started making the Nail Painting process a lengthy but exciting one for myself, but a great and equally as exciting one for you readers.  I paint my nails then take and edit the pictures as well as write a detailed blog post including extra pictures and the polishes I used.  I will then film & edit a 15 second tutorial for my Instagram followers, but I will also post it here on www.spangley-nails.com and Facebook.  Phew - alot of work, but worth it in the end for both you and me!  I will always post the video on here before it goes live on any of my social media sites, so be sure to check it out here if you want a sneak peak.

The design today is this really pretty Rose design featuring a Models Own Hypergel Polish.

MoYou London Rainbow Challenge - Saturday: Purple

AHHHH!! Was the feeling that I woke up to inside my head!!  Some seriously large accounts on Instagram caught onto my Blue Manicure and it seems like everyone went crazy for them.  I couldn't be more grateful!! Its all very exciting!!

Onto today's nail art though... I was working this morning, and admittedly was thinking about it all day.  I don't know about you, but the only thing I can think of when you say purple is rain.  But how naff is that, really.  Great song - but not such a great manicure I think!

I did my usual, skim through the plates for inspiration, when I hit Sailor Plate 04's Octopus tentacles stamp and then SHE hit me...  URSULA!!

I have done Ursula from The Little Mermaid on my nails before - you can read that post here - but I have to say I much prefer this version of the purple sea witch!

MoYou London Rainbow Challenge - Friday: Blue & Video Tutorial

I want to start off by saying, my favourite colour is blue.  If there was any day of the week of this challenge that I should be looking froward to it would be today, right?  Wrong!  I have been sitting doing my nails since 9pm and NOTHING has gone to plan with this colour - at all! :-(

I was very near quitting - I said to my boyfriend, I'm not doing today.  He thought that meant I was fore-fitting the whole thing, when in fact  think you can pick what days you want to do, I just think if you do all 7 it increases your chances of winning.

But then suddenly it hit me slap bang in the face!! When-ever I'm struggling with things, I strip them right back to the bare minimum - this helps me understand things and ultimately "get it."  I know everyone works differently but this works for me - this is how I have done my "Roses are Red" nails and my "Follow the Yellow Brick Road Nails," by stripping the colour back and thinking about what it really means to me.

Every single human being on this earth (I'll bet) has owned, does own and/or will own a piece of clothing made from the material: Denim.  What colour is denim I hear you ask?  Yup, thats right - BLUE!  I suddenly remembered my George @ Asda Denim effect nail polish that I've used like twice... Come here my pretty... ;-)

MoYou London Rainbow Challenge - Thursday: Green

That's it - over half way through, only 3 more manicures to go, whose excited! I'm going to plan ahead for my last 3 manicures, as I am terrible for not knowing what I'm going to do until I sit at my nail station.

I looked through everyone's designs under the #MoYou20K hashtag and there is some beautiful green designs.  I went back to my plates and had a look when something on Fairytale 02 caught my eye.  Green to me means Irish I suppose, so I have done this classy irish fuelled manicure, that, if I'm honest, would be great for St.Patricks day.

Feeling Blue? Striping Tape Nail Art With Tutorial!

So I dug out my camera this week and got myself a little thing called Windows Movie Maker...  I'm going to start channelling my inner Stephen Spielberg and make some nail tutorials!!  At the moment, I hope for these to be 15 second clips fit for Instagram and hopefully in the future I'll start moving onto bigger things like YouTube.

The below nail art is really super simple, relatively quick and can be done in loads of different variations & colours.  You will find the video for this nail art after the jump.

MoYou London Rainbow Challenge - Wednesday: Yellow

This challenge is now almost half way through - how exciting.  After I post today's that will be 3 out of 7 done & dusted.  It will be very exciting to complete this short, but fun challenge.

Admittedly, I lie in bed at night thinking of what I can do for my next manicure and can never come up with something on the top of my head.  What works for me is, sitting down with the plates and visualising the designs on my nails.  Today's theme was Yellow and  it wasn't until I was browsing my plates this afternoon, I came up with this idea.  I am a very literal thinker - can be a good or a bad thing, you decide!   So when it was red, I used "roses are red" as my inspiration..  Today's idea ended up a bit like that..  What is long, famous, iconic and yellow?!  No, not Homer Simpsons head!! The Yellow Brick Road of course!! :-)

MoYou London Rainbow Challenge - Tuesday: Orange

Hi everyone (again!)  Cracking on with MoYou London's Rainbow challenge, Tuesdays colour was Orange.  I struggled coming up with an idea for this one actually.  I have one of their Easter plates which has carrots on, but because you can only use the daily colour, black and/or white, my carrots wouldn't have had any green at the top, so I had to 100% think of something else.

My boyfriend decided to Google it for me, and was shouting random things at me like Doritos and Garfield, its so easy to say yes, okay, I'll do that - but how to encorporate the MoYou plates?!  Finally, he shouted an idea, I just simply went with it, and I'm really happy with the outcome - GOLDFISH!

Goldfish are gold by name but are Orange by nature, so here is what I came up with...

MoYou London Rainbow Challenge - Monday: Red

Hi everybody!  Welcome back to Spangley Nails.  I am sorry I have not been posting as regularly as I would've normally...  Its not because I didn't feel like it, its because I have really bad eczema that has totally flared up on my left hand/4 fingers - the ones I paint, like, all the time.  It looks very unsightly and is making me very sad.  Does anyone else out there have this problem?  How do you control it?

Anyway, I have decided that I am no longer going to allow dry skin to ruin my polishing party so have decided to come back with a vengeance and participate in the MoYou London Rainbow Challenge on Instagram.

Basically, this challenge will run for a week - much more realistic than the last one, AND all you have to do is post a manicure with the corresponding colour of that day - I will post said itinerary at the end.  I am posting Monday's Manicure (as MoYou annouced it quite late, they said it was A-OK to post yesterday's, today) and todays.  The only real rule, as such, with this challenge is that you can only use the colour of the day, black and/or white on your nails (as well as MoYou Stamps) - oh boy, have I underestimated this bad boy?!

As you can see by the title of this blog, Monday was Red day.  I remembered the green roses I done for depression awareness last Sunday (if you missed it, read it here) and kept chanting "roses are red..." SO I done a spin off of my #FightForLightAndLive manicure for Day One.

1 Manicure; Worn 3 Ways

Ever have one of those weeks where you seem to have NO time to do your nails.  Yup, that would be me this week.  I did a manicure on Saturday, and haven't had the chance to do anything since then.

One of the main reasons why I love nails inc polishes is they have loads of different special effects, so if your wearing a plain colour for work all week, you can throw on a layer of glitter on Friday night for the weekend therefore no need to spend however long it takes you to re-paint your nails for your night out.  Voila! You've ultimately recycled your boring work manicure.

I've did just that this week with my nail art.  I've learnt a new technique using my fan brush (tutorial coming reeeeal soon, so look out for that one my friends!) and have been changing it up for the last 5 days because I love it so much and I've had no time, boo! :(

#FightForLightAndLive Depression Awareness Nail Art

After the tragic passing of Robin Williams just under a week ago, the nail art community decided to come together and paint our nails green in honour and respect of depression awareness - which is what caused Robin Williams to take his own life.  If you are suffering from depression or its sidekick anxiety you need to speak up! Sometimes this can be the hardest thing in the world to even think about doing, but it will be so worth it in the end.

What a tragic loss of life RW was - I think everyone felt it.  Its not like I knew him personally, and you reading this probably didn't either, but everyone knew him in a different movie playing a wide verity of characters.  A career which spans over so many generations.  Whether it was Jumanji, Mrs Doubtfire or Aladdin, it was Good Will Hunting or Good Morning Vietnam.  A true legend indeed.

I decided to paint my nails white, with some green floral stamping.  I love this plain, simple and delicate look.

Nude, White and Gold Floral Nail Art

Happy Saturday, Friends!  I hope you are all well and are enjoying the weekend.  I am back tonight with this cute floral manicure, that was a very simple one to achieve & I must say that I am really happy with the results.  I have been really loving floral manicures lately - seems like I'm a bit of a Johnny come lately on the whole floral thing if I'm honest!  I always thought they were so difficult, but they're not - promise!
